Padgett's 4 Decade History
Padgett, Inc. was started in 1962 in New Albany, Indiana at West 5th & Main Streets in a 25' x 50' welding shop with one truck and one welder. Soon, Jim saw opportunities for crane work and built his own boom truck. The crane service was born. With much hard work and dedication, the business grew to larger buildings, field crews and staff, more cranes and forklifts. In 1982 he built a separate facility for the manufacturing of steel products at 901 East 4th Street in New Albany, Indiana. Upon acquiring sufficient property, he moved the crane business there as well in 1986. Presently, Padgett, Inc. is on 30 acres of downtown property and has a combined space of offices and buildings totaling over 230,000 square feet. Jim's philosophy of hard work, well maintained equipment and his dedication to honest and fair treatment of customers and employees has enabled the business to grow as it has. His qualified and skilled employees deserve much credit for their contribution to a business that is known as " the best in class " in the area.
