Clean Coal in Richmond Indiana
Padgett Inc. began this project on September 2, 2008 at Richmond Power and Light and in just 7 short weeks the project has taken shape. When the project is complete 100 tons of structural steel will have been erected and approximately another 100 tons of duct work installed. All the ductwork was fabricated by Padgett in their 100,000 square foot manufacturing facility. The project also required Padgett employees to install and laser align a 40 ton fan using Padgett cranes and precision laser alignment equipment. Padgett was able to erect the massive structure using their 120 ton Manitowoc lattice boom crane, 65 ton rough terrain crane and 10,000# tele-handler forklift to maneuver smaller items around the jobsite. The project has a labor force made up of veteran ironworkers, millwrights and operating engineers. The project is projected to be complete in mid November, so in 12 short weeks Padgett Inc. will have the people of Richmond Indiana breathing easy.

Padgett Installs Scoreboard for Indianapolis Colts Stadium
Padgett started installing the structural steel for the two massive high definition replay screens in the new Lucas Oil Stadium. The skeleton was made up of more than 100,000 pounds of steel, galvanized walkways and ships ladders. A 240-ton Grove all-terrain crane and several JLG aerial work platforms was used to connect the modular components of the six story “video walls”. Four vertical bents, measuring 60’ x 8’, were erected at each end of the stadium. On each bent are shop welded shelf angles that support the 21 horizontal platforms set on the angles. The grating was shop-attached to the platforms and six ships ladders were installed at each elevation. The 7 foot wide horizontal platforms were broken down into three groups of seven, in lengths of 33’6”, 32’ and 24’. Each were transported from the fabrication shop to the stadium four at time. All connections were welded and sections were adjoined with splice plates. Five certified welders were on site at all times erecting the walkway. After this project was completed, Padgett, Inc was asked to hoist a plane, boat and funny cars for Lucas Oil. A 15ton Broderson will be the crane of choice.
