Padgett Installs Scoreboard for Indianapolis Colts Stadium

Padgett started installing the structural steel for the two massive high definition replay screens in the new Lucas Oil Stadium. The skeleton was made up of more than 100,000 pounds of steel, galvanized walkways and ships ladders. A 240-ton Grove all-terrain crane and several JLG aerial work platforms was used to connect the modular components of the six story “video walls”. Four vertical bents, measuring 60’ x 8’, were erected at each end of the stadium. On each bent are shop welded shelf angles that support the 21 horizontal platforms set on the angles. The grating was shop-attached to the platforms and six ships ladders were installed at each elevation. The 7 foot wide horizontal platforms were broken down into three groups of seven, in lengths of 33’6”, 32’ and 24’. Each were transported from the fabrication shop to the stadium four at time. All connections were welded and sections were adjoined with splice plates. Five certified welders were on site at all times erecting the walkway. After this project was completed, Padgett, Inc was asked to hoist a plane, boat and funny cars for Lucas Oil. A 15ton Broderson will be the crane of choice.

Padgett Consolidates Administration Offices and Expands Painting Facilities

Padgett, Inc. has completed expanding two areas in its facility, an office expansion/consolidation and a 6,600 sq. ft. expansion to the painting facility. These two expansions will help to provide a quicker and higher quality process from Estimating through Shipping.

The office expansion will consolidate the administration into one office building. Estimating, Detailing, Project Management and Production will now be under one roof. Communications will be greatly enhanced due to the proximity and immediate input from all departments.

The expanded painting facilty will provide the additional curing areas required for todays sophisticated paint systems. Again, overhead cranes will provide ease of handling and painting while downdraft ventilation and radiant heat will allow for multiple spray areas and rapid curing in a controlled environment.

These two expansions will provide improved estimating, more comprehensive planning and improved throughput for the sophisticated paint systems.
